  • January 11, 2012

The following is a press release submitted by the Tarrytown Republican Committee:

Tarrytown Republicans Announce New Officers,

Schedule Nominating Caucus for March 20 Village Election

Tarrytown, January 11--The Tarrytown Republican Committee today announced both its new officers for the 2012-13 term and details of its 2012 Nominating Caucus for Tarrytown Village elections to be held in March.

Alison Boldyrev of Tarrytown was elected Committee Chair. Elected with Boldyrev were Domenic Morabito as Vice-Chair, Margaret Murphy as Secretary, and Debra Jacoby as Treasurer. All officers serve two-year terms. Boldyrev, a mother of four and a 2001 graduate of Marymount College, was a Republican nominee for Village Trustee in 2011. Morabito, a lifelong Tarrytown resident, was previously a Village Trustee, and Chairman of the party. Murphy, longtime secretary of the Committee, is switchboard operator at Phelps Memorial Hospital. Jacoby, a Certified Public Accountant, is a mother of three and business teacher,.

The GOP Committee also announced that its 2012 Nominating Caucus for Village Trustee will be held Monday, January 30, 2012, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Tarrytown Village Hall in the Court Room. All registered Republicans residing in Tarrytown may attend and vote in this caucus, which will nominate three candidates for Trustee in the March 20th Village election.

Boldyrev said, “This is a crucial year in the history of Tarrytown. Taxation, and its impact on citizens here, remains the most vexing issue. The new Tappan Zee Bridge, and questions concerning its effect on our village, should have residents curious as to how it will dissect Tarrytown. Village spending, which has doubled since 2000, and unfunded mandates, as a result of Albany's lack of control, are causing spiraling new tax levies which should concern every homeowner, renter, and taxpayer in Tarrytown.”

At present, Tarrytown's Board of Trustees consists of seven Democrats. Three Trustee seats are up for election in March.

Just a correction to this press release supplied to us and printed verbatim: The Board actually consists of not 7 democrats but: a Democratic Mayor, three Democrats, two Independents and one Republican Trustee.
