Cyclist Injured, Possibly by Car

On Nov. 24 at 9:30 p.m. a man came into Tarrytown Police headquarters reporting he believed he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle on North Broadway near the Post Office around 5 p.m. that day.

The man had allegedly been riding northbound when he was suddenly knocked to the ground. He said he did not remember a particular car hitting him but bystanders who came to his aid reportedly asked him, “Did that car just hit you?”

The man was able to make his way home after the accident. But then he was transported by his wife to Phelps Memorial Hospital emergency room where he was apparently treated for a fractured left collar bone and a cut above his left eye that required stitches.

No witness information was available, but the victim wanted the report filed in case a witness did call police with any more information for further investigation.

According to Lieutenant William Herguth no witnesses called to follow up with police, neither did anyone call police at the time of the alleged incident.

“There was no report of it other than him reporting it to us,” Herguth said.
