More egg hunts this weekend, a poetry celebration and Earth Day at the Greenburgh Nature Center
With the end of the spring break vacation and Passover and Easter this week, it is a quiet weekend in our area. But if you're here and looking for some things to do with the family, we've found some outings within a short driving distance that we're sure you'll enjoy.
Family Art Project
Where/When: Wave Hill, 657 West 252nd Street, Bronx on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. You can stop by anytime until 1 p.m. for the art project.
Why go: Take a quick drive down the Saw Mill Parkway (if it isn't flooded, of course), to this special spot. With amazing views of the Hudson, these gardens are a wonderful place to take the whole gang and spend a day checking out a beautiful spot. The art project ths week features Maiwa Koizumi who will demonstrate how to take colored plastic bags and reuse them and make them into rain gear and Earth Day items.
Pricing: Free admission before 12 p.m. This program is part of free Target Saturdays.
Easter Egg Hunt
Where/When: Redmond Field, Cook Avenue, Yonkers on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Children 4 and under are at 10 a.m. at Area #1. Kids ages 5-7 at 10:30 a.m. at Area # 2. Children ages 8-10 at 11 a.m. are in Area #3.
Why go: One more chance to get in a Easter Egg Hunt this year! This event will be held rain or shine and is reccomended for kids ages 4-10, but younger ones welcome. Easter Bunny will be there too.

Westchester Poetry Festival
Where/When: The Masters School, Claudia Boettcher Theater, 49 Clinton Ave, Dobbs Ferry on Saturday, April 23 from 1 p.m. -5 p.m.
Why go: The Hudson Valley Writers’ Center and The Master's School are sponsoring this first annual event. Best for high school students and adults. Event will feature poetry readings and workshops. For more information, email Judy Murphy at judy.murphy@mastersny.org or call 914-479-6419.

Egg Hunt
Where/When: Douglas Park, 105-121 Gory Brook Rd, Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m.
Why go: Egg hunt and opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny!

Weekend Family Workshop
Where/When: Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers on Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Why go: This family project this weekend is Finding Faces. The museum's junior docents will lead this session. Also, if you are a Hastings resident, learn about their new program, where you can get a free museum pass!
Pricing: $5 for adults. Seniors and children are $3. Members are free.
Greenburgh Nature Center Earth Day Celebration
Where/When: Greenburgh Nature Center, 99 Dromore Road, Scarsdale on Saturday, April 23 from 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Why go: You can help get the center ready for spring and summer. You'll help clean up trails, clear the gardens and plant. Be prepared to get dirty! Event will happen rain or shine. Call ahead and sign up in advance if bringing a group at 914-723-3470. Best for ages 6 and up.
Puppet Show
Where/When: Muscoot Farm, 51 Route 100, Somers on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Why go: Take a scenic drive and head up to this gem in Westchester. You'll be able to walk around and see the animals, which young kids will love. The puppet show features Fred Greenspan and his Punch and Judy Show. The show will outside if it isn't raining and will be held inside if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Pricing: Free
Where/When: Dobbs Ferry Lutheran Church, 43 Ashford Avenue, Dobbs at 9:30 a.m. followed by Festival Eucharist of Easter at 10:30 a.m.
Why go: Get your running shoes on and be ready to search. Remember to bring your own bag. While all are welcome, please stay for the service.
