Hollywood Hits Tarrytown

Keanu Reeve's latest film will be shooting downtown until January 25.

The Village of Tarrytown was invaded this week by a film crew shooting Keanu Reeve's latest movie.

Henry's Crime, written by Sacha Gervasi who produced the documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, is the story of an aimless toll-booth employee who is wrongly accused of a robbing a bank.

"It's a comedy, romance, bank heist movie," Reeves said on Thursday. "I play Henry who is trying to change his life by robbing a bank."

The movie also stars Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Up in the Air) and James Caan (The Godfather, Misery). Reeves is also attached to the project as a producer.

The majority of shooting in the village is taking place inside the Tarrytown Music Hall for scenes involving Reeve's character's love interest and a plot to rob a bank, sources working on the film said.

The independent movie is being shot by a New York City-based union film crew. On Wednesday, the crew began shooting inside the Set Back Inn on Main Street and yesterday they were filming in an apartment above the old Wachovia Bank building on the corner of Neperan Road and Broadway.

The production made its way to Tarrytown after shooting in Buffalo (the setting for the film) in November and December. The movie will continue to be a presence downtown until January 25, according to Reeves and other individuals working on the production.

While not on the set, Reeves has had time to take in a cup of coffee at Coffee Labs and visit a few Main Street restaurants including Lefteris Gyro.

"Tarrytown is a great place and we've met some great people," he said. "It's been a good experience so far."

According to Reeves, there is no specific release date for the film, but he said Henry's Crime should be out before the end of the year.
