Injury Accident on Benedict Avenue Friday Morning

Police, Fire and Ambulance services responded to a serious two-car collision.

Tarrytown emergency services responded to a serious automobile accident on Benedict Avenue Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m. in front of Hackley School and involved a Jeep and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. 

The driver of one of the vehicles said he was travelling west into Tarrytown along Benedict when the Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled out of the Hackley School entrance against a red light.

"I must have hit him going 4o miles per hour," the man said.

The side impact slammed the Jeep Grand Cherokee into a utility pole. Two passengers inside the vehicle had to be extracted with the aid of the Tarrytown Fire Department and the Tarrytown Ambulance Corps.

Both individuals were taken to Westchester Medical Center, their condition was not known, but rescuers on the scene said they were conscious when they were taken away.

As of 6:30 a.m. The scene was being cleared by the Tarrytown and Greenburgh Police Departments.
