Inside the Sleepy Hollow Courthouse: Sanchez Pleads Guilty, Deal Close on Roldan Case

A look inside the headquarters of justice in Sleepy Hollow.

Here's a look at what happened during Sleepy Hollow Court's  Match 7, 2011 session.

Sanchez Pleads Guilty to a Number of Charges

Sleepy Hollow resident Norman Sanchez pled guilty to charges that will earn him a period of probation.

Sanchez has six cases before the court including three possession of marijuana charges, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance charges and an Assault in the 3rd Degree charge. He also had related charges in Irvington.

A number of his charges will be handled in Irvington, but four of them were settled in Sleepy Hollow.

Two Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Charges were reduced to CPCS in the 7th Degree, which also satisfied one of his marijuana charges. The Assault charge was reduced to Attempted Assault in the 3rd Degree.

In total, Sanchez will forfeit over $900 in cash, and will also have to pay $1,350 in restitution and over $250 in fines.

Sanchez will obtain probation as long as he stays out of trouble from now until his sentencing on June 6.

Julio Sanchez in Another Court

Julio Sanchez, 35, of 178 Cortland Street was arrested in October and charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, and one count each of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd and 3rd Degrees. The charges are all felonies.

Police allege that Sanchez sold cocaine on several occasions in the village of Sleepy Hollow. You can read the full story of his arrest here.

Sanchez's attorney said that the man would not be in court because he was appearing in County Court on similar drug-related charges. The attorney asked for a one-month adjournment to see the outcome of the county case.

No Clear Offer for Molina

Edward Molina, 22, of 15 College Avenue, is charged with Criminal Facilitation in the 4th Degree and possession of marijuana. Molina was arrested in December with a former Sleepy Hollow Department of Public Works employee who was found to be in possession of a number of narcotics (full story here).

Molina was not in court, his appearance had been waived, but his attorney noted that a final disposition was in the works, which would probably involve a forfeiture of property. However, no firm offer has been extended by the Assistant District Attorney. He will be back in court on March 24.

Adjournments

Cosme Veloz-Almonte: Veloz-Almonte is charged with Menacing in the 2nd Degree. his lawyer noted that there was no resolution on the case. Justice Valdespino said if a deal with the ADA couldn't be reached in two weeks, the case would go to trial.

Matthew Tischler: Tischler was back in court charged with two counts of Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree. Tischler is accused of stealing, and using, credit cards from various acquaintances he knew in the village. Tischler is also being held in Westchester County Jail on a parole violation. His attorney said he was working on a disposition with the District Attoney's office, and asked for a two-week adjournment.

Walter Roldan: Roldan, of 64 Howard Street, is charged with Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree, a D felony, after an incident that occurred in January where he allegedly touched a 13-year-old girl. His attorney said that there was a plea being worked out with the District Attorney that could settle the case soon.

Court is in session every Monday at 3 p.m.
