Man Arrested for Alleged Brawl with Police

Tarrytown detectives report that while interviewing a Sleepy Hollow man for a unspecified case “under investigation” the man charged at them and a struggle ensued.

Kevin Fahey, 51, of a Depeyster Street address, was arrested on several charges, namely: 

• Second degree assault
• Obstructing government administration in the second degree
• Resisting arrest

During the course of the physical dispute in the Tarrytown Police station on the evening of Jan. 23, Fahey allegedly struck one detective, injuring him.

Fahey reportedly continued to resist officers’ attempts to place him into custody. He was eventually placed into custody with help from another officer. One officer had been cut during the struggle and Fahey reportedly also suffered a minor cut to his leg. Fahey was given first aid but refused further medical treatment.

Fahey was arraigned by the judge with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond and a return court date.

Later that night, however, Fahey's leg started to bleed and he requested medical aid. Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Westchester Medical Center with an officer on board and another following.

Lieutenant William Herguth said in the course of “hustling with a person it’s very easy to get banged up.” He said police aren't certain, but Fahey's wound may have been from a previous cut that had scabbed up and been reopened during the fight.

As far as what they interviewing Fahey about, Herguth said "we have a number of open investigations and this is one of them."
