Police Arrest Woman for Prostitution in Tarrytown

Chang L. Yang was working at a massage parlor on North Broadway.

Police have arrested a Flushing woman on suspicion of conducting acts of prostitution in Tarrytown.

Chang L. Yang, 48, was arrested last night by members of the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force after police received a tip that that the Oriental Spa, located at 19 N Broadway, was offering sexual acts in exchange for money.

"We had gotten word about a month ago that there might have been something going on in there besides massages," said Tarrytown Police Lt. William Herguth. "We had the Task Force take a look at it."

An undercover officer went into the establishment and paid for a massage. He was then propositioned by Chang for additional services.

"She offered to give him a massage for a fee, then offered to give him something else for a fee," Herguth said. "The Task Force took issue with that and they arrested her."

Chang was charged with Unauthorized Practice of a Profession (massage) and Prostitution, a Class B Misdemeanor. She was released on $500 bail last night.

She made her first court appearance this morning where she pleaded not guilty. She will be back in Tarrytown court at a future date.

Herguth said that the Spa got the word out about its additional services through Craigslist. Their advertisement on the website is attached in the photo section of this article.

"I understand they would go on Craigslist and advertise this and put out a phone number for people to call," Herguth said.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Oriental Spa, where Chang worked, was still open for business according to a sign on their door.
