Here is a summary of incidents in Sleepy Hollow from July 5, 2010 to July 11, 2010

The Sleepy Hollow Police Department reported the following incidents:

July 11

10:21 p.m. A resident of Howard Street was attempting to kill a raccoon which raised the suspicion of a passerby. Police went to the residence and found that a male had been throwing rocks at raccoons on his property. Officers witnessed six raccoons in the area. The man said the raccoons were in the yard because his neighbor leaves cat food outside. The homeowner was given the phone number for a wildlife expert.

8:32 a.m. A Merlin Avenue resident woke up to find her mailbox missing. The mail box had been attached to her house, but had been ripped off and removed in the night. A light post from the front yard was also taken. The incident was documented and forwarded to the detective division.

July 10

2:19 p.m. A man was arrested after a routine traffic stop on New Broadway. Police found that the vehicle had been suspended due to unpaid parking tickets and had more than five notices of suspension. The car was towed and the individual was brought in to police headquarters for booking.

11:46 a.m. A woman arrived in police headquarters to report that she was the victim of harassment. The woman said she had broken up with her boyfriend the previous week, and when she went to get her stuff from his home, her boyfriend's sister arrived and started verbally abusing her. The insults continued after the woman left via messages left through Facebook. The woman brought in records of the harassment, which was handed over to the detective division for follow up.

July 9

10:44 a.m. A man came into police headquarters to report that his car had been struck while he was inside Phelps Memorial Hospital. The man said when he came back out to his car he noticed damage to the front and rear passenger doors. No suspects.

July 8

2:36 p.m. A woman living in a College Avenue apartment called police to report that she was having problems with her landlord. Police officers were sent and when they arrived noticed the building was in terrible condition and contacted the village's building department. Gas and electric to the building was shut off and the residents were advised they would have to leave the location. The landlord of the building has had a history of building code violations. The landlord said he would fork up some of the money to provide his displaced tenants with temporary housing. The tenants were advised to seek more damages in small claims court.

July 7

1:00 p.m. A vehicle that was parked at Phelps Memorial Medical Center received minor damage after being hit. A witness who saw the incident said an elderly male backed his old grey car into the parked vehicle, and then drove off. The witness couldn't get a license plate number. An accident report was filed.

July 6

3:36 p.m. A caller reported that her dad hit a fence near 100 College Avenue while he was attempting to park his car. The man was distracted by his wife who was talking to him as he was backing up his vehicle. The man then hit the gas instead of the brakes and rammed his vehicle into the fence, causing it to buckle slightly.

2:49 p.m. A possible counterfeit bill was reported on Valley Street. A woman came into a business and was attempting to pay for items with the bill, but the store owner said it was a fake because it didn't pass a marker test. The woman demanded the bill back, but the store owner refused and called police. Police took the suspect bill to Mahopac Bank, where upon closer inspection, it was found that the bill was over 60 years old. The currency was legitimate, but would fail current counterfeit tests because of its age.

July 5

7:48 p.m. A Sleepy Hollow woman called police to report that her ex-boyfriend had visited her at her work in White Plains and threatened her, violating an order of protection she had against the man. The order of protection had been served in Sleepy Hollow, however White Plains police were investigating the incident. The woman's statements were documented and she was told to call Sleepy Hollow police if the ex-boyfriend attempted to contact her again.
