Police Beat – Tarrytown: $700 Stolen From Purse at YMCA, Ladder Amputates Finger

A summary of incidents in Tarrytown from February 9 to 16, 2012

 

 

The Tarrytown Police Department reported the following incidents:

Feb. 9

12:52 p.m. 911 caller reported an individual had pumped $200 worth of diesel at the Hess station at 386 S. Broadway and was refusing to pay. Officers on scene learned that the driver's company credit card did not approve charge and he did not want to pay out of his pocket. Driver had finally made payment prior to police arrival. 

6:44 p.m. A caller reported having parked her 2010 Infinity in the Bridge Plaza parking lot at 350 S. Broadway around 5:30 p.m. and returning to find an anonymous note saying that a car with specified NY plates had struck her vehicle. Her car had scratches on the left rear bumper and rear quarter panel. Operator of the suspected car was contacted by police; driver admitted to striking vehicle and was supposedly en route to police headquarters to report the same.

Feb. 10

11:56 a.m. Police and ambulance responded to a report of a female at 18 N. Broadway with a laceration to the hand. Aided was assisting contractor with footing a ladder when the injury occurred. The woman's left ring finger was partially amputated. She was transported by Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Westchester Medical Center. Officers requested that the building department respond to the location, who in turn requested Occupational Safety division to investigate situation.

Feb. 12

Several calls came in to police regarding numerous shrubberies and plants that were reportedly ripped out of Neperan Road properties overnight, left on the lawn and damaging landscaping. Incidents noted for record.

11:34 a.m. Call reporting a coyote running west on Round-a-Bend Road towards the wagon wheel circle. Caller was concerned for the children in the area. Officer on scene did not locate animal. Coyote was seen by a resident running into the wooded area of the road.

4:52 p.m. Numerous calls came in for a motor vehicle accident on South Broadway near the Bridge Plaza. Ambulance was requested for complaint of pain from air bag deployment. TVAC transported person to Phelps Memorial Hospital, car towed, and accident report filed.

Feb. 13

11:16 p.m. Caller reported that a vehicle had been parked in front of his Sheldon Avenue residence with the flashers on since about 5 p.m. Officer contacted registered owner of vehicle who said he ran out of gas and that he would be removing the car as soon as possible.

Feb. 14

11:41 a.m. A babysitter reported that two children were locked in the running vehicle at Crest Drive. Officers and Stiloski's Towing arrived. Stiloski's opened vehicle and children were returned to their babysitter.

Feb. 15

8:33 p.m. Caller reported $700 had been stolen from her purse inside the locker in the locker room of the Tarrytown YMCA. Case completed for petit larceny.

Feb. 16

6:44 a.m. Caller reported she and and another driver had collided at the entrance to Carrollwood Drive. Both vehicles were towed by Stiloski's due to extensive front end damage. Parties exchanged information.
