Police Beat - Tarrytown: Driver Asleep at Intersection; DWI Driver Arrives at Police Lot
A summary of incidents in Sleepy Hollow from December 22 to December 29, 2011
The Tarrytown Police Department reported the following incidents:
Dec. 22
3:31 a.m. Caller, an employee at the Doubletree Hotel, requested police to respond for disorderly persons now in their hotel room. The parties did not immediately answer their room door; entry was gained using a master key and unlocking device. Officers reported the room in disarray. Due to their previous disruptive behavior, the hotel manager requested all occupants of the room to leave the property for the night. Parties were picked up by taxi and left without further incident.
10:15 a.m. Caller reported she came out of her house on Tarryhill Road and observed that their BMW was missing from the driveway. Vehicle was last seen in driveway at about 1 a.m. that morning. Missing vehicle is a 2012 BMW X5 bearing NY registration x10-6KV. Case report filed.
12:40 p.m. Caller/homeowner reported he just arrived home and his house had been broken into. He left his Neperan Road residence around 10 a.m. Detective division notified to investigate the second reported case in several weeks of a house robbery in which wrapped presents were opened and stolen from under the Christmas tree. Cases still under investigation.
Dec. 24
4:43 a.m. Police sergeant reported operator with NJ registration was passed out with the vehicle running at the intersection of North Washington and Central Avenue. After several police attempts to awaken the driver, the driver began to drive off north on N. Washington. The vehicle stopped at the intersection of N. Washington and Dixon and additional officers responded. Field investigation revealed the operator to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Driver was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to headquarters. Stiloski's notified for impound of vehicle. Sleepy Hollow PD contacted to make notification to Howard Street residence for a responsible person to sign for defendant. Defendant posted $150 bail for a return court date of Dec. 28.
10:26 p.m. A one-car rollover reported on Highland Avenue. No injuries were reported on scene. Stiloski's removed vehicle.
Dec. 25
4:24 a.m. Park Avenue caller requested police assistance for a fight between her two sons. The parties were found to be mutual combatants, both sustaining serious injuries and both placed under arrest at 4:41 a.m. Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps dispatched to headquarters for both defendants. One party refused further medical assistance for a bleeding nose, swelling and bruising. The other refused assitance for a bite on his right arm. Defendants released with a court date of Dec. 28.
4:56 p.m. Party in headquarters stated he was bitten on the right hand by a poodle on this day at noon on South Washington Street. He briefly spoke to the dog's owner, who was visiting a friend there, but did not retrieve any other information. He had already gone to Phelps Memorial Hospital for evaluation and received treatment. Officer located owner of dog (a five-year-old poodle named Toby). Owner could not provide current rabies certificate and said he had no current vet at this time. Animal bite/scratch report filed and animal control notified.
8:15 p.m Caller reported she was being followed by a friend who she was having an ongoing dispute with. She said friend was operating a black Honda Accord, and she was driving toward police station and would like assistance. Honda had pulled into the police headquarters front lot. Officers stopped driver and identified him, placing Cesar Padilla in custody for DWI at 8:22 p.m. Padilla consented to a chemical breath test which tested positive for alcohol above .08%. He was booked for DWI and issued universal traffic tickets, returnable to village court on Jan. 4 and released to a responsible party.
Dec. 27
8:40 p.m. Caller reported wires down and burning in the woods behind his Sheldon Avenue residence. Officer confirmed and requested fire department to respond. Con Edison was also notified, estimated time of arrival unknown.
Dec. 28
7:06 p.m. 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident with injuries at 555 South Broadway in front of Kraft Foods. Officers, TVAC, and Greenburgh Paramedics responded and reported a two-car accident. Duty tows were requested for both cars. One driver, David White, was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana and driving while ability is impaired by drugs. Operator of other vehicle was transported to Phelps by TVAC for laceration to head. White was brought to headquarters where he submitted to a urine test; he was booked with a return court date of Jan. 4 and released to a responsible party.
