Police Beat – Tarrytown: Misplaced Cars, Lost Patient Found in Irvington, Storm Damage Tally

A summary of incidents in Tarrytown from October 27, 2011 to November 3, 2011

 

The Tarrytown Police Department reported the following incidents:

Oct. 27

Two misplaced cars in quick succession of each other. At 8 p.m., party came into headquarters reporting she was unable to locate her vehicle which she had parked earlier that day at the train station. Officer located vehicle in nonresident overflow lot. At 11:10 p.m., a caller reported he returned after a show at the Music Hall to where he parked his car and it was missing. He then found the car.

Oct. 28

6:52 p.m. Before the downed lines from the storm began, there was the UPS truck. A caller reported a UPS truck had knocked down wires at Macarthur Lane and Bridge Street. Wires were blocking roadway. Verizon and Cablevision were notified.

Oct. 29 – Nov. 1

Pre-Halloween storm madness began at 12:41 p.m. on Oct. 29 when an officer reported roads were slippery due to snowfall and highway personnel were notified. In the next few days, the TPD responded to at least nine calls for fallen trees/limbs, eight for limbs on wires, ten for downed wires, two for trees falling on vehicles, seven for minor motor vehicle accidents (including two hit and runs and one rental car reportedly struck by a village plow truck), two for transformer boxes on fire, one for a cable box fire inside of an apartment, and one for a downed wire on fire outside.

Oct. 30

11:30 a.m. Complainant came to headquarters to report she has been involved in an ongoing dispute with her Grove Street neighbor. She stated that over the past few months, neighbor has been sliding notes under her door complaining about the noise her child makes walking around in their apartment. The situation had recently escalated to the neighbor reportedly banging on the door, screaming in the hallway, and cursing in front of the children. When asked to refrain from using abusive language in front of the children and to address the landlord with complaints, the neighbor reportedly responded that she would not temper her behavior and expected 24 hours of silence. Officers responded to location several times but were unable to make contact with the neighbor.

Oct. 31

7:29 p.m. Complainant came to headquarters reporting his two side view mirrors were stolen from his 2008 tan BMW while parked on Main Street on Oct. 27 between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Nov. 2

1:29 p.m. A report was received of a missing Alzheimer’s patient, last seen in the area of Pay Half on North Broadway, wearing a navy blue jacket, brown pants, and a hat and cane. The missing person was located in Irvington and was transported to Phelps ER by Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Nov. 3

7:09 a.m. Caller reported that she parked her vehicle on Riverview Avenue in good condition around 9 p.m. on Nov. 2. Upon return on Nov. 3 at approximately 5 a.m. she discovered both her side view mirrors were broken and a “RIP” sign was placed on the windshield. Officer confirmed damage and took photos for record.
