Police: Man Tries to Return Stolen CVS Goods

Police report that a man thwarted from returning allegedly stolen items at the Tarrytown CVS tried again in Ossining.

When a Tarrytown CVS employee refused to give a man a refund for $49.99 worth of allergy medicine, he tried again up the road. At the Ossining CVS it was quickly discovered this man had stolen the medicine shortly before he tried, twice, to return it.

Ossining police called Tarrytown headquarters on March 26 at 8:16 p.m. saying that they had a man in their CVS who may be in possession of stolen property from the North Broadway CVS in Tarrytown.

Ossining officers asked ours to view store video to determine if a theft did in fact occur here, describing the suspect as a white male, 5’6”, 180 pounds, with salt and pepper beard wearing brown sweatshirt, black jeans, black and white sneakers and glasses.

Ossining PD reported they would not be filing charges and would turn the suspect over to Tarrytown officers.

Tarrytown officers went to Ossining to identify the man. Frank Salerno, 55, of Ardsley, was placed under arrest on a charge of petty larceny and taken to Tarrytown headquarters. He was released with a court date with evidence secured in the police locker.

Salerno, said Lt. William Herguth, had tried to return the $49.99 worth of allergy relief medicine at the Tarrytown CVS only about an half hour after he allegedly stole it. Tarrytown employees, thinking it suspicious, thought he might try this again at another branch, so they called Ossining. Sure enough, the man showed up in Ossining, where he was caught.
