Sledder Hurts Leg at Rockwood Hall

The victim was taken to Phelps Hospital by the Briarcliff Ambulance Corps.

 

An sledder injured on the slopes of Rockwood Hall, the old Rockefeller estate-turned-park with the best sledding around, took the Mount Pleasant Police Department and Briarcliff Manor Volunteer Ambulance Corps to the state park at 4:34 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30.

The victim, who was not seriously injured, was taken by the Briarcliff Ambulance Corps down the street to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, police said.

The park, part of the Rockefeller State Preserve, is at the west end of Route 117, in the town of Mount Pleasant, just north of Sleepy Hollow.

Thanks to the alert reader who let me know the victim had been sledding, not skiing, on the hill at Rockwood Hall.

There are dangers to sledding. It all depends if everyone is careful about sledding and watching out for eachother, not being reckless. We went sledding at White Plains MS and some couple knocked into my daughter, knew she was seriously hurt from how she was crying, and they flew out of there without inquiring how she was or anything, I guess they were avoiding the authorities.
