This just in from the Villlage of Sleepy Hollow:

Please be advised that the snow emergency parking regulations remain in effect until further notice. **The worst part of the storm is expected to start around 9:00 p.m. this evening; we ask all residents toplease stay home and avoid driving/stay off the roads if at all possible. Please advise your families and neighbors who may not have access to this email message!

Accident reports are starting to come in as conditions get worse fast.

Tarrytown Police report a county Bee-Line bus got stuck on its route at the top of Central Avenue Friday evening. It was stuck on the hill for about 20 minutes as the highway crew salted the road until it could continue on its way. 

Luckily, this just in from the county: Bee-Line buses will stopping service at 7 p.m, which seems wise. For more info click here.

Police noted that there had been three Tarrytown accidents since 3:30 p.m. Nothing major, but accidents "that wouldn't have happened it wasn't snowing," Sergeant John Barbalet said.

The snow is beautiful to behold of course but it has its dangers. The Village Sleepy Hollow has issued a snow emergency and cautions folks to stay off the roads and abide snow emergency parking regulations.

Trooper Glen Williams at the State Barracks in Tarrytown reports no problems yet. They'll have extra officers at work later today "when it gets really bad," he said. 

"Hopefully people will respect the fact that it's snowing and slow down," Williams said.

MTA announces a regular schedule until noon Friday with additional trains in the afternoon and less after 5 p.m. From the Metro-North:

Metro-North will operate a regular weekday schedule until 12 noon.

Between 12 noon and 8 p.m., Metro-North will operate a revised schedule with increased service in the afternoon and fewer trains than usual after 5 p.m. Customers should go to www.mta.info to find the latest updated schedule information.

The following Hudson East Line trains usually departing Grand Central Terminal will not operate:

• The 5:57 PM to Croton-Harmon will not operate.
• The 6:12 PM to Poughkeepsie will not operate.
• The 6:20 PM to Croton-Harmon will not operate.

Tarrytown Union Free School District has announced an early dismissal schedule for Friday, with no Alcott programs and no morning or afternoon Pre-K.

Dismissal times:

12:05PM  John Paulding Elementary School

11:25AM  W.L. Morse Elementary School

10:45AM  Washington Irving Elementary School

11:45AM  Sleepy Hollow Middle School

11:45AM  Sleepy Hollow High School

The Village of Sleepy Hollow has issued a storm emergency. From Village Clerk Paula McCarthy comes the following:

The Village of Sleepy Hollow is declaring a snow emergency as of Friday 6:00 A.M. 

*Please follow the street signs on your block for snow emergency parking regulations.  If at all possible, please park off the road.

Call 911 for all emergencies; including downed wires and fallen trees.  (Police Dept: 631-0800)

If you lose power/electric/gas, please notify Con Edison at 1-800-752-6633

Keep sidewalks clear of snow and ice in front of your homes and do not throw snow onto the streets.

Avoid driving/traveling; ** if you must drive, please exercise extreme caution.

The latest from the National Weather Service predicts the following timeline:

Friday: Snow, 100 percent chance. Three to 7 inch accumulation. 

Friday night: 100 percent chance of snow. Wind gusts as high as 37 mph. Possible additional accumulation of 8 to 12 inches.

Saturday: Snow likely (60 percent chance) before 9 a.m with gusts up to 39 mph. Less than an inch additional accumulation.

Sunday: Sunny, high of 35 degrees.

*EagleFest has been moved to SUNDAY, FEB 10th due to the storm.

*The Westchester County FEMA Discovery Recovery workshop was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Town Court, 1 Town Hall Plaza, Valhalla. FEMA will issue a new advisory when the event is rescheduled.

*In anticipation of the snow, Parents Place (2 Central Avenue, Tarrytown) will be closed on Saturday, February 9th.

*The "Underage" band gig in Pleasantville has been rescheduled to Sat. March 2, 7 p.m.

*My Patch Office Hours on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. are postponed. Stay tuned for further notice on date/time/place!
