A van rolled over in Sleepy Hollow shortly before 2 p.m. this afternoon. The accident occurred near the corner of N Broadway and Bedford Rd.
"I have no idea how this guy got here like this," said Sleepy Hollow Fire Department Chief William Hennessey Sr. "We were standing by to do pump outs and then we get this."
Police said the accident was a classic case of a driver not paying attention to the road.
"The driver said something fell in his car, he reached down to pick it up and the next thing you know he rolled over the vehicle," Sgt. Tom Eaton of the Sleepy Hollow Police Department said.
The driver of the van had a laceration to his head, but was otherwise uninjured in the accident. He was transported by the Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corps to Phelps Hospital as a precaution.
Police closed Bedford Rd. for a half hour while the van was righted by a tow truck (see attached video). The road has since been reopened.

Thanks for reporting this. Unfortunately, I probably walk up and down this side of the street daily since this is my side of the street and sometimes with my kids. Great! I always looked out for cars but we're lucky that no other pedestrians or drivers got hurt from this guy not paying attention. Others can easily could have EASILY been harmed or worse. No sidewalks!!

You're right. I've biked and walked right in that area too. If school were just getting out it could have been disastrous.

It looks like he must have went up the embankment and somehow trying to swerve back onto 448,tipped over.
