Verizon Workers Take to Village Streets

Verizon workers are picketing and following 'scab' vehicles.

The national Verizon strike has hit Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

Members of Communication Workers of America Local 1103 are picketing against 'scab' labor that has been brought in by Verizon to work on FiOS systems in the Villages. 

Since Monday, August  4th, unionized Verizon workers have been on strike, trying to maintain the current benefits they have as employees.

In an effort to get their message out, mobile picketers are following official Verizon vehicles to let the public know why they are striking and build support for their cause.

According to the group gathered in Sleepy Hollow Manor, at stake are job security, health insurance and their pension plan as well as the right to not be reassigned to another work location.
