Water Levels Back to Normal for Webber Park Residents

One of Sleepy Hollow's water pumps shut down last night.

A pump supplying water to Sleepy Hollow residents shut down last night causing low pressure, lack of water and sediment contamination for homes east of Route 9.

"Our pump station shut down in the middle of the night," Sleepy Hollow Village Administrator Anthony Giaccio said. "We we're able to correct the problem within a couple of hours."

The pump, which draws from Sleepy Hollow's below-standard water storage tank on the Rockefeller Preserve, stopped working around 3 a.m.

However, at the same time that the pump station shut down, Briarcliff Manor was receiving water from Sleepy Hollow, compounding the demand on Sleepy Hollow's reservoir.

"The increase demand and reduction in supply resulted in our reservoir lowering causing some brown water in certain areas of the village," Giaccio said.

The areas affected included Webber Park in Sleepy Hollow and Briggsville.

The pump was fixed within hours, and water levels in the reservoir have since been restored. Should residents see any sediments in their water, they can run it until it's clean.
