DESCRIPTION:Irvington Historical Society hosts&nbsp\;groundbreaking exhib
 it:&nbsp\; &ldquo\;Once Upon a Time: The Stories of the Brothers Grimm a
 nd Washington Irving&rdquo\;.&nbsp\; The McVickar House\, located at 131
  Main Street in Irvington\, is transformed into an&nbsp\;enchanted fores
 t with re-creations of classic fairy tales from &ldquo\;Little Red Ridin
 g Hood&rdquo\; to &ldquo\;Rip Van Winkle&rdquo\; as guests explore the w
 riters&rsquo\; lives and works.&nbsp\; The exhibit is the result of year
 s of extensive research by&nbsp\;Dr. Erik Weiselberg\, Irvington residen
 t and scholar of both European and U.S. History\, and it&nbsp\;reveals f
 or the first time how the Grimms and Irving were transatlantic kindred s
 pirits\, even if they never met.&nbsp\; The exhibit chronicles&nbsp\;maj
 or influences on their parallel lives and how those events shaped their 
 stories and tales.&nbsp\; Visitors of all ages will enjoy traveling thro
 ugh time\, exploring the writers&rsquo\; childhoods and native lands\, l
 earning about the source material for their famous tales\, experiencing 
 the stories firsthand in the Enchanted Forest\, examining their politica
 l action\, seeing how their stories have been adapted at the movie theat
