JOHN NETH ASSAULTED.
Hungarian Fined $30 For Hitting Gas Man.
William Slazak, of No. 2 Hudson street, was picking wood from the dump in the rear of the gas works yesterday afternoon and was ordered to stop by John Neth, who has charge of the gas department of the Westchester Lighting Company. Slazak disputed the right of Neth to interfere and with a well-aimed blow mutilated the face of Neth.
Police headquarters was at once notified of the occurence and Officer Schneider, who was on the job, placed Slazak under arrest. He was arraigned before Judge Moorhouse this morning and fined $30, with the alternative of taking thirty days at the White Plains Jail. His wife paid the fine.
