Fountain Completed.
The new fountain which has been in the course of erection for several months past at Cold Spring, just north of Philipse Manor, was completed this week. It is perhaps one of the handsomest fountains ever built in these parts. The cost was borne by William Rockefeller and the fountain was constructed as a memorial to General George C. Fremont, who formerly owned the property in the vicinity.
This completes the gift of Mr. Rockefeller to the village of North Tarrytown. When the village completed paving Broadway Mr. Rockefeller offered to give as his share a certain amount of money, to rebuild the Sleepy Hollow bridge, which when completed was named Washington Irving Bridge, and the fountain.

This fountain is still standing, though it no longer has running water. Driving north on Broadway past the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery you can see it across from the Peabody Soccer Field on your right.
