Spreading Christmas cheer 100 years ago this week.

A MUNICIPAL CHRISTMAS TREE IN FOUNTAIN SQUARE.
During Christmas Week Will Be Lighted Every Evening for an Hour
The members of the Women's Civic League of Tarrytown and North Tarrytown are planning to have a large Christmas tree erected in Fountain Square for the week between Christmas and New Years. Through the kindness of the Westchester Lighting Company the tree will be lighted every evening during the week for an hour from 8 to 9 and will also be lighted on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
On Christmas Eve and New Years Eve there will be carols sung by members of the Church Choirs, the music being under the direction of Prof. Walker. The Institution of Mercy Band has also kindly volunteered their services.
The tree will be for the benefit of those who are not able to afford to Christmas tree in their homes and is a most worthy object. Any contributions of money may be sent to Mr. Russell, at Russell & Lawrie's, who has volunteered to act as treasurer.
No gifts are to be distributed from the tree, but the money will go toward erecting and trimming the tree and taking care of same for the week.
