Regeneron, Named Best BioPharm Employer, Breaks Ground on Expansion

Each day, Patch provides the nuts and bolts of local happenings with our five-bullet local dispatch.

1) Congrats to Regeneron! On Monday the the biopharmaceutical company, with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer on hand, broke ground on a $100M project to build another 300,000 square feet of lab and office space on property across the street from their Tarrytown offices, expected to create another 400 jobs.

And, another feather in their cap: Science magazine has named them the #1 employer in the global biopharmaceutical industry in their annual Top Employers Survey for the second year in a row. More on this from Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner here

2) Learning opportunities abound in the villages and in our Events listings: tonight, the Hudson River Boating Safety Forum goes from 7 to 9 p.m. in Tarrytown Village Hall. And at Warner Library this afternoon, a discussion about how we can better form an "aging-in-place" community, at 1 p.m.

3) Looking ahead to the Halloween and beyond weather forecast: slightly less need to bundle your costuming, very slight potential for umbrellas. Wednesday's high in the upper 50s. Thursday, for Halloween, a slight chance of showers with highs in the low 60s. Friday showers are more likely with highs in upper 60s.

Enjoy it while it lasts: sunset today is at 5:51PM.
