Today's Ways to Give Back: Swim for Life, School Supplies

Each day, Patch provides the nuts and bolts of local happenings with our five-bullet local dispatch.

1) From our Boards: Melissa Weaver announces a School Supply Drive for Children in 10591: "we have school children in need of school supplies for the 2013/2014 school year, right here in our own district, please help pass the word to donate the necessary supplies." More info here.

2) More ways to do good coming soon: the Hudson River Swim for Life in Sleepy Hollow and the Jarden Westchester Triathlon in Rye are both coming up in September and need local folks to donate and volunteer on behalf of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. More on how to get involved here.

3) Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with temperatures in the high 80s. And keep an eye out after dusk for the full moon.

4) "Susan Feinberg Found Dead in NYC" was one of yesterday's most-read stories.

5) Here's an idea: turn your favorite sorbet into a summer ade of sorts. This Patch blogger has recipes.
