KFM Halloween Masquerade Ball Promises an Unforgettable Benefit

One Month away! Tickets on sale through October 15th.

The Kathleen F Marks Memorial Foundation announced their First Public Fundraising event, a Halloween Masquerade Ball to be Held at the Mansion at Colonial Terrace on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 7pm-12am.  The Foundation’s Mission is to fundraise for cancer research in areas most in need of funding, formed by Kathleen’s daughters Crystal Schwer & Isis Kline. 100% of the Proceeds from the inaugural event will benefit Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center Pediatric AML research. Halloween also holds special significance for KFM, Kathleen’s favorite Holiday as well as Mid October will mark the 11th anniversary of Kathleen’s Passing.

Between the hours of 7pm & midnight, The KFM Memorial Foundation Promise’s a Night of excitement and surprises. Providing their guests with a spooky and dramatic

Phantom of the opera style theme in the Mansions Beautiful Mid-19th Century Ballroom coupled with unique and exciting entertainment; Aerial Show, Fire Dancers, Ballroom Dance performances and Group Lead dances just to name a
few provided By Wow Factor Talent of Tarrytown, DJ 845 will provide Musical Selections for the evening, The Mansion on the Hill has created a menu sure to satisfy and Dream Cakes Bakery, of Cortlandt Manor has provided a breathtaking custom show piece cake for guests to enjoy. Party Stop of 3006 E. Main St. Cortlandt Manor will have a selection of Masks for purchase for the Masquerade; a portion of each mask will be donated to the proceeds for the ball.

Tickets are $130 for a single and $250 a pair of tickets, and are still available, as well as a limited number of full tables of 10 at $1200 can be purchased through October 15th by Mail or Purchases can be made Online through October 18th 2012 directly on the Foundations website www.KFMFoundation.Org . The foundation will be distributing Event Flyers & ticket order forms at The Jefferson Valley mall 9/28/12 between 5:30-9:30pm and tickets will be available for purchase at The Foundations Booth at The Yorktown Fall Street Festival 10/7/12.

When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
