The following is a press release from NY Senator Greg Ball:
Senator Greg Ball’s (R, C – Patterson) has assembled a Student Advisory Council consisting of students from High Schools across the 40th Senate District.
The Student Advisory Council was put in place by Senator Ball to work on issues that are important to students. The council is now focused on organizing a mock legislative session where students will travel up to Albany on May 29th to sit on the New York State Senate floor and participate in a mock legislative session.
“When I was a student I wanted to get involved but felt my elected officials were unapproachable. I really wanted to change that perception once elected. It’s so important that we encourage our youth to get active and involved in our communities,” said Senator Greg Ball. “More exciting are all of the great ideas that they generate, these young leaders are impressive future leaders. Whether it’s working with them to craft legislation taking on bullying in schools, or bringing them up for a mock session in Albany, it’s a real pleasure working with them.”
Senator Ball appointed Mahopac High School Senior, Brian Reilly as the Chairman of the Student Advisory Council. Brian has been highly dedicated to the local community through various projects and organizations including the Putnam County Department of Health and the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce.
“Brian Reilly is an example of a young man who is far ahead of his time,” Senator Ball said. “He not only comes up with outstanding ideas, but he executes them flawlessly. The work that he has done for the community has been noticed, not only by me, but my colleagues. I’m confident that he has a bright future ahead and I am honored to have him serve at the head of my Student Advisory Committee.”
Reilly said he is looking forward to continuing to work with Senator Ball on projects that will benefit local residents and businesses.
"I feel connected with our community and honored to have the opportunity to serve as Chairman to Senator Greg Ball's Student Advisory Committee," Reilly said.
Senator Greg Ball is currently seeking additional highly motivated and determined students to join his advisory council. If you are interested in joining please contact Suzi McDonough at 845 279 3773 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
