YNN ON DEMAND LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVELY FOR TIME WARNER CABLE CUSTOMERS IN THE HUDSON VALLEY

Time Warner Cable customers in the Hudson Valley can now watch local news anytime on their schedule with the launch of YNN (Your News Now) On Demand, located on Channel 1110. YNN On Demand is available exclusively for Time Warner Cable customers and features the latest news and special programming.

YNN is a 24/7 news channel that covers the growing communities in the Hudson Valley and the Catskills with bureaus in Middletown, Poughkeepsie and Kingston. YNN launched in April 2010 with a mission to cover this previously underserved area and is available on Channel 6 and 706 in HD.

“The launch of YNN On Demand is such a proud accomplishment for us as we highly value the importance of providing local programming for Hudson Valley residents,” said Anthony Proia, YNN’s Senior Director of News Operations. “We’re committed to delivering the best local news content that matters to our viewers. Our new On Demand channel arrives at the perfect time as we celebrate YNN’s two year-anniversary of being on the air.”

YNN delivers news content that is most important to those living in the area; news, politics, sports, lifestyle, traffic and weather. YNN also presents Capital Tonight, a nightly, statewide political show telling the story of the state’s political scene from the Capitol in Albany and beyond.

Time Warner Cable’s New York City footprint serves over 1.3 million customers in four New York City boroughs (Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and western Brooklyn), Mt. Vernon, Hudson Valley (Orange, Sullivan, Ulster Counties and parts of Dutchess, Greene and Delaware Counties), and Bergen and Hudson Counties in New Jersey.

A big part of the problem is that the teachers' expectations about what supplies are necessary haveRead More become so extreme. When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
