Ben Sollee performs in Hastings; Tarrytown duo opens

Friday, July 19th 8:00 pm
Ben Sollee with Nicolette Schoen & Jen Fischer
The Purple Crayon, 52 Main St, Hastings-on-Hudson

Ben Sollee is a multi-talented musician, songwriter, and composer whose accomplishments range from his highly praised cello playing to collaborations with artists like Béla Fleck and My Morning Jacket to environmetal activism. Sollee’s music seamlessly blends a wide range of genres including classical, bluegrass, folk, and R&B. His unconventional approach produces endlessly interesting music, and his most recent album, Half Made Man, was called “one of the year’s most vital albums.” He has been featured on WFUV, in The Wall Street Journal, the Houston Press, and more.

Sollee's "knack for intricate arrangements has brought about comparisons to Sufjan Stevens," and has described Half Made Man as "a musical search party; we often find what we’re looking for in between defined styles and genres." He is now touring with his trio, featuring musicians who have toured with artists like Brett Dennen and Guster. Don't miss hearing their big sound in our intimate venue - it's sure to be a memorable performance.
