Consider Helping an "Aging in Place Community" Form in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow
On Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. at Warner Library, there will be an opportunity for Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow residents to learn about the possibility of forming an "aging-in-place" community here, which is part of a movement started by people who choose to live independently while benefitting from coordinated services and programs.
Speakers will include the founders of aging-in-place communities in Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Somers.
Aging in Place is a national movement to enable people to stay in their own homes as they grow older by making available the social support, health care, and home maintenance services they require to live happy, productive lives in the community.

Aging in Place (AIP) Membership Groups are grassroots, non-profit organizations created, funded and led by Westchester community residents to develop aging in place services and activities for adults 65+ in their own neighborhoods.
The Center for Aging in Place (CAP), which is sponsoring the meeting, provides assistance, support, and resources to these community-led groups seeking to establish aging in place membership programs in Westchester County. We are the ONLY organization dedicated to helping grassroots groups develop and sustain NEW aging in place membership programs to provide services decided upon and funded by members to meet the needs of older residents living in those communities.
