On Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns, An Eagle Scout Court of Honor took place, honoring John Posca of Sleepy Hollow. For his Eagle Scout project, he designed and built a firewood shed at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. The wood is used to heat the Old Dutch Church.
He is a graduate of Fordham Preparatory, where he was the President of the NY Explorers Club; an officer in Habitat for Humanity, assisting in cleanup after Hurricane Sandy; was on the Varsity Crew team, winning second and third place at the New York State Championships.
He received his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, has volunteered hundreds of hours with the Haunted Hayride, where he assisted building the sets. He is a volunteer with the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance.
He is currently a freshman at Ithaca College studying Theatrical Production/Design and is on the Varsity Crew Team.
