Judge Daniel Angiolillo Meets with Residents at The Pines

OSSINING - Judge Daniel Angiolillo of the NYS Supreme Court met with the residents of The Pines, Bethel’s independent senior living apartment residence, today to discuss the structure and work of the court system in New York State. Judge Angiolillo, who is seeking re-election in 2013 (9th Judicial District), hears appeals cases from all the superior courts, involving any state legal issue, such criminal, civil, family and so forth.

In today’s meeting at The Pines, residents asked about the difference and function of the courts within the system. Judge Angiolillo explained the realm of responsibility attached to each one by using hypothetical situations to illustrate their purpose. The group also discussed high profile court cases currently being heard.

Judge Angiolillo was originally appointed to his position by Governor George E. Pataki in 2006 and was later designated a Constitutional Associate Justice of the same bench by Gov. David A. Paterson in 2010.
