New Tappan Zee Bridge Built Out of Donated Food at JCC on the Hudson

Local kids and their parents worked alongside members of the New New York Bridge project team to build a replica of the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

Using nonperishable food items donated by the JCC community, Tappan Zee Constructors, LLC, and Stop N Shop, the builders affixed boxed, bottled and canned foods to a plywood model of the iconic structure.  Slim Jims we used as the bridge cables while containers of fruit cocktail and applesauce represented cars and placed on the roadway.

Special Advisor to the Governor for the project, Brian Conybeare, and Frank Hassid, MSW, executive director of the JCC on the Hudson, pitched in.
