UJA-Federation of New York’s Montefiore Medical Center & Albert Einstein College of Medicine Division Honors Laurie G. Jacobs, M.D., Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine

UJA-Federation of New York’s Montefiore Medical Center & Albert Einstein College of Medicine Division honored Tarrytown resident Laurie G. Jacobs, M.D., vice chair of the Department of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center & Albert Einstein College of Medicine, at its annual reception at Montefiore Medical Center, in the Bronx, New York.

Victor L. Schuster, M.D., chair of the Department of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center & Albert Einstein College of Medicine, presented Dr. Jacobs with her award, which she received in recognition of her scientific achievements and passionate commitment to improving the lives of the elderly.

Shalom Kalnicki, M.D., and Arnold Wilson, M.D., served as campaign chairs and Donald Ashkenase, Allan Brook, M.D., Edward Burns, M.D., and Susan Klugman, M.D., served as vice chairs.

The reception featured guest speaker Micah D. Halpern, political commentator, columnist, and author, who spoke on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and turmoil in the Middle East.

Laurie G. Jacobs, M.D., is a geriatrician and vice chair of the Department of Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center & Albert Einstein College of Medicine, overseeing Montefiore’s clinical programs in internal medicine and its sub-specialties. Dr. Jacobs has received numerous awards for her contributions in medical education focusing on the care of older adults. Dr. Jacobs has developed and enhanced clinical programs across the continuum of care, including a home-visiting program and an elder-abuse consultation service. She graduated from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. She serves on the boards of Montefiore’s Pioneer Accountable Care Organization and the American Geriatrics Society, and on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. A longtime supporter of UJA-Federation, Dr. Jacobs led its initiative at Montefiore on Educating Physicians About Elder Abuse.
