Artic Blast: 10591 Timeline for Reaching '19 Below Zero'

After freezing temperatures and snow late last week, our region can expect to see even colder temperatures — what weather experts are calling a "polar vortex" — Monday and Tuesday, just as many head back to school and work after the holidays.

Northern Westchester is under a wind chill advisory from midnight tonight to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Here's the breakdown on when the extra-cold weather is expected to hit 10591 in the next few days, with data compiled from the National Weather Service:

Monday night, plummet: From highs in the mid-40s this afternoon, this evening promises to dip low fast, to around 4 above. West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Wind chill values as low as 14 below after midnight. 

Tuesday, colder: Mostly sunny and windy. Much colder with highs around 9 above. West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Wind chill values as low as 19 below. 

Tuesday night, coldest: Mostly clear and brisk. Cold with lows around 3 above. West winds 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the evening. Wind chill values as low as 14 below. 

Wednesday, less cold: Mostly sunny. Cold with highs around 20. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Wind chill values as low as 14 below in the morning. 

Wednesday night, more bitter chill: Mostly cloudy. Lows around 15. 

Thursday, aha!: Mostly cloudy, and a "balmy" high to (almost) pull us out of a deep freeze with highs in the lower 30s...

Thursday night, but wait: Cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow. Lows in the lower 20s. 

Friday, chance of snow: Cloudy. A chance of snow in the morning. Highs in the mid 30s. Chance of snow 40 percent. 

Friday night, chance of snow: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow. Lows in the upper 20s. 

Saturday, chance of snow...and rain: Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow and rain in the morning...then a chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 40s. Chance of precipitation 30 percent. 

Saturday night, chance of rain: Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain showers. Lows in the lower 30s. 

Sunday, partly sunny?: Mostly cloudy in the morning...then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s.
