Calling All Drag Queens!

The Tarrytown Halloween Parade invites you to strut your stuff.

This is a family show of course, so "shock value is not a category here," said one parade organizer Chris Brazil. Still, Tarrytown's citizen Halloween committee is putting out a call for Drag Queens and enticing them with the promise of $100.

The cash prize for best drag queen, to be awarded following some sort of competition (logistics, TBD), was donated by a mysterious benefactor.

Several drag queens have signed up so far, but the planners are hoping for many more.

Bring us your feather boas, your ridiculously high heels, your wigs and your false eyelashes for this fabulous event.

Queens can sign up now up through the night of the Parade (this Saturday!) up until 8 p.m. They should register at 23 Main Street behind the music stage between the hours of 7 and 8 p.m.

Interested? Contact Chris Brazil at 914-424-3973 or christoforu@aol.com

Village government is a circus anyway, might as well have all board members and Mike Blau dress up as drag queens....

They're just looking for some dates and the $100 is what they are willing to pay for it. Maybe they should try Craigslist instead?

This Halloween marketing is getting out of control. I'm worried about what may be coming next. One day we're going to pine for those old smaller more family friendly events. Do we really want all of Westchester here every October weekend?

I thought this was supposed to be a Ragamuffin Parade, meaning for children.

My misunderstanding on that, the contest is during the Block Party, post-parade.

This is great! I'm so happy to live in a town that supports the arts, including the art of drag. :) I love our diverse community. Can't wait to see the Queens, and will be there with my kids cheering them on.

Come on everyone, it's halloween. You know, dress up have some fun. Don't take it so seriously!! And the reagamuffin parade was last Saturday.

Also just to clarify, when I said before that's it "Tarrytown" putting out the call, that was the Tarrytown Halloween Committee talking, not the official village. That is, this has NOTHING to do the Board of Trustees/Mayor as those suggested above in the comments. All in good fun, people!

Oh this is so fun!! It's halloween, the holiday to dress up as crazy as possible. Super excited for our town to out do themselves once again
Rich Sixpak October 24, 2012 at 10:47 am
It's not a Ragamuffin parade. It's a DRAGamuffin parade!
