Caught: Skittish Dog Bruno Found in Same Area He Was Lost

This is Bruno, he was last seen in/near Douglas Park/OCA/Rockefeller.

A happy ending comes to the story of the dog lost for days in the cold and snow only minutes after he arrived to his new foster home is near a happy ending.

Ilse L. has updated concerned 10591 readers just before 3 p.m. that Bruno has been caught. She didn't have details yet, but had just received a text with the news. Earlier, she wrote that he had been spotted close to where he had been lost. Folks were trying then to trap him.

"He was spotted. He's safe but cold and scared. I'm giving a final now and can't help trap him, but people are working on it, and if not now, definitely he will be caught soon. He seems to have never left the immediate area. Found in a backyard when the guy came back from a weekend away. He likely was hiding there and got spooked when he came home. Great news. At least we know he's fine! We will get him soon!"

Barbara Kapetanakes asks us to share this urgent request:

Local peeps.....be on the lookout for a shy, frightened, shaggy tan dog. About 40 lbs. I brought him home to foster, and in 5 min he took off into the park [This was on Dec. 13]. Pitch black and couldn't find him. I don't think he went that far, and this morning [Dec. 14] I did see him run through the park and run away from me. We think he ran out of Douglas, onto new broadway, then back up the hill into the park.

He is reddish tan, shaggy, maybe about 40 lbs or so. About 7 months. He is wearing a blueish collar and leash still attached. He is microchipped and has a tag on. If anyone sees him, PLEASE call me at 914-645-7526.

On Monday, Dec. 16. Kapetanakes, said there have still been no sightings of Bruno. She offers this update:

No sightings, so we aren't sure we're even looking in the right places.  With how cold it's been, he may very well be hiding under our noses somewhere warm.  He should be starving by now unless he got into some garbage or something, so hopefully the park will be quieter with the work week starting and he'll be hungry and feel safe to come out.

We set a trap in Douglas Park, since that's where he was last seen.

Any sightings, people should get in touch with us.  At least then we will know if we're in the right area and can move the trap if he's seen somewhere else.

Please check out the flyer attached and call
914-645-7526 if you see this dog.
