New Rochelle Library Web Site Down Temporarily

The New Rochelle Public Library's Web site was taken down by Earthlink over an invoice dispute.

If you were trying to get to the New Rochelle Public Library Web site Friday to check on books to order or find out what activities were available for the weekend, you were redirected to an Internet holding page saying nrpl.org "expired" or is "pending renewal or deletion."

Library Director Thomas Geoffino said the company that holds the domain name—Earthlink—never sent an invoice to the library and then cut the service off.

He said everything has been straightened out, but Earthlink said it could take 24 hours to get the Web site back up and running.

"We caught it early in the day," Geoffino said, "and they did apologize, but it's very frustrating."

He said that the library patrons were able to access the library's resources as usual.

"We want to apologize to our patrons for the inconvenience," Geoffino said.

It apparently took longer than expected to bring it back up, but it was accessible Monday morning.

Time to bid out an other reliable company.
