Among the 46 honorees at today's Senior Hall of Fame luncheon at the Westchester Marriot in Tarrytown is Tarrytown's Kitty Geissler.
Geissler, who recently turned 100, is one of five new Hall of Famers over the age of 90.
Isabel Villar of White Plains will receive top honors from the county. Villar is the founder and executive director of El Centro Hispano since 1974 and a founder of the Westchester Hispanic Coalition.
“The Senior Citizens Hall of Fame has been a tradition in Westchester for three decades,” said Astorino. “Our honorees are extraordinary. Individually and as a group, they strengthen our communities and are true role models for us all. Isabel Villar is a remarkable example of just such a person.”
Special recognition honorees are:
- John F. Caralyus of Purdys
- Marleen Y. Dandridge of Mount Vernon
- Rev. Jeannette Phillips of Peekskill
- Barry Singer of Somers
- Carol H. Stix of Scarsdale
The senior citizens Senior Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services, the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs & Services and the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. Since the Senior Hall of Fame began in 1983, nearly 1,000 seniors have been inducted. Today's luncheon celebration goes from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westchster Marriott.
