The College of New Rochelle's is host to this year's Westchester Biennial – a juried exhibit featuring 20 Westchester artists. Selections of paintings, installation, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and works on paper created in the last two years are on view at Castle Gallery through June 17, 2012.
The show includes mixed media from Sleepy Hollow's Tim Grajek and works on paper from his daughter Elena Grajek.
This is the eighth juried art exhibition that began in 1998 to showcase recent work by both emerging and established artists throughout Westchester County. It is the only show of its kind open exclusively to Westchester County artists. Works submitted must have been created within the last two years (2010-2011).
The goal of this exhibition is to “Showcase recent work by both emerging and established artists throughout Westchester County,” according to Katrina Rhein, Director of Castle Gallery.
Artists selected (from approximately 100 applicants this year) for The Westchester Biennial 2012 exhibit have been chosen by a prestigious and experienced panel of jurors, including: Chana Benjamin, visual artist (photography, video) and founder, president/ director of New Century Artists, Inc., New York, NY; Mary Birmingham, curator at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Summit, NJ; and Ruth Hardinger, visual artist (sculpture, installation, mixed media) and environmental activist, New York, NY
