Sat, Oct 13: Lighthouse - Illumination Art Workshop
$5/person
Importance of light as a guiding tool for human navigation will be explored in this workshop designed to feature the Tarrytown lighthouse, which stands just off the shore of the Riverwalk Center. Go back in time and think about how people lived before electricity. Work with this awareness to create an art work to light up the night made with reflective materials, including mirrors, glass beads, aluminum foil, reflective tape, white fabric, and candles. Bring a flashlight to this workshop.
Fri. Oct. 19: Girl Scout After School Program – Water Badge
From Waterdrop to Watershed
$10/scout
Children will study the movement of water as a single drop, then have fun watching water move over a watershed model that shows interaction with different types of earth materials. They will create watercolor paintings with ink and watercolor pencils. Children will learn to see how the movement of water is key to the health of water. Connections between the water cycle and human activity with regard for woodlands, wetland habitats, soil, geology, and animal diversity will be emphasized.
Sat. Oct. 27: Botanical Ghost Paper Lanterns
FREE!
Participants will celebrate the SPIRIT of Halloween by creating a paper lantern to light up the dark night! They will work with fall leaves and flowers to create a ghost scene inside the lantern with leaf silhouettes.
