7th Annual Poets & Writers on War & Peace featuring Jack Mayer, Community Readers, & Special Guests
Join us at the Writers' Center for our annual discussion of the impact today, tomorrow, and in the future of both war and peace. This very special event brings together authors, poets, and veterans from across the NYC and Westchester area, including featured reader, Jack Mayer. Keep an eye on the HVWC website for the full list of events and readers.
Jack Mayer is the author of Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project. Life in a Jar is a Holocaust history and more. It is the inspirational story of Protestant students from Kansas, each carrying a painful burden, each called in a complex way to the history of a Catholic woman who knocked on Jewish doors in the Warsaw ghetto and, in Sendler's own words, "tried to talk the mothers out of their children." Inspired by Irena Sendler, students are living examples of the power of one person to change the world and are models for young people everywhere.
