Our evening lantern tours introduce some of the famous and infamous residents of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. After paying respects to Washington Irving, author of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," we may visit a Revolutionary War militia captain, the cemetery's Revolutionary War monument, noted poets and artists, the soaring Gothic monument of a wealthy merchant, industrialists Andrew Carnegie and William Rockefeller, and others. We also introduce some of the cemetery art, architecture and symbols on our grounds, and almost always step into the cemetery's 112-year-old underground receiving vault.
