The Harlem Quartet will make its first appearance on the series on Saturday, April 20, 2013, performing works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Chick Corea and Wynton Marsalis. Founded in 2006 by the award-winning Sphinx Organization, they made their Carnegie Hall debut that fall and have since gone on to grace venues around the world with their new and fresh take on classical music. The group has performed at the 92nd Street Y in New York City and for President and Mrs. Obama at the White House. With such artistic skill and versatility, the exciting young ensemble has performed with a wide range of artists. Dedicated to building diversity in classical music, they were praised by The Cincinnati Enquirer for “a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent.” www.harlemquartet.com
