Sleepy Hollow Arsonist Gets 10 Years in State Prison

Trent Bronner, former Sleepy Hollow volunteer firefighter, received a sentence of 10 years in state prison for three counts of felony arson in the village.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore today announced that Trent Bronner, now 24, will spend a decade in jail after pleading guilty in May to:

• two counts of Arson in the Second Degree, a class “B” Felonies,
• and one count of Arson in the Fourth Degree, a class “E” Felony.

The March, 2011 early morning fires in two adjacent multi-family residences at 13 and 19 Cedar Street in Sleepy Hollow, left 19 homeless. One building was condemned and demolished, still an empty lot. The other is boarded up as the owner is still renovating.

"Due to the nature of the fire, it was immediately deemed suspicious," DiFiore said in a release. "The Westchester County Cause and Origin Team determined that the fire was intentionally set and originated under the porch of 13 Cedar Street."

In the course of the fire investigation, Bronner apparently admitted to authorities that he had started another fire in the village on July 19, 2010 at 128 Cortlandt Street.

Sleepy Hollow Police arrested Bronner, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident with a Valley Street address, on April 27, 2011.

Assistant District Attorney Timothy Ward, Chief of Arson Unit prosecuted the case.
