Girls Basketball Wins League

Sleepy Hollow Girls Basketball Wins League

On Tuesday, the Sleepy Hollow girls varsity basketball team beat Bronxville 58-35 for their 15th win of the season.   Jenny Bucci hit four 3 pointers for 12 points, and Grace Carr added 13 points in a solid team win.

Last Friday, the team beat Pelham 56 -50 on the road.  In that game, Alex Davis-Sumter had 12 points and 8 rebounds and Grace Carr had 18 points and 10 rebounds.   Jenny Bucci added 8 points and 10 rebounds, including a timely late left-handed lay-up by the right-handed shooting guard.  As has been the case all season, the whole team continues to contribute, with Jamie Volpe and Becca Leeper providing key offensive and defensive support off the bench.

In winning the league, the team has qualified for the playoffs for the fourth straight season.  Now in his seventh year, head coach Nick Romeo, assisted by Ed Stapleton, has guided the team to 54 wins in the last 75 games, for a career record of 70-63.
