Bistro Z is having a party to open its outdoor patio for the season.

Enjoy $3 drafts and $4 house wines, mixed-drink specials and complimentary BBQ hors d'oeuvres on Bistro Z's beautiful outdoor patio.

To celebrate its opening for the season, Bistro Z will offer free T-shirts and other giveaways courtesy of D. Bertoline's & Sons Inc.

After cocktails, enjoy fine dining under the stars. The patio provides seating for up to 40 people and can be reserved for private cocktail parties for up to 175.

Bistro Z's dinner menu features an incredible selection of meats and seafood including Chilean sea bass with braised fennel and butternut squash, grilled Black Angus steak with Yukon mashed potatoes, pan roasted chicken breast with white bean and chanterelle ragout or Osso Buco ravioli with shaved Asiago cheese, baby spinach and gremolata.

End the meal with a decadent dessert such as New York cheesecake with white chocolate curl, a warm apple tart with vanilla ice cream, a vanilla custard cream with burnt sugar topping or your choice of sorbet or ice cream.

When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
