Congrats to Doreen Clarke, Director of Housekeeping at , among those recently named Westchester's greatest leaders and bosses by Westchester Magazine.
Among the 14 honored were the CEO of the United Way of Westchester, the Executive Director of the Katonah Museum of Art, and the CEO of the Westchester Bank, all probably more glamorous than the work Clarke orchestrates.
But it was her more behind-the-scenes efforts to keep a hotel shipshape that got Clarke noticed.
This year, wrote Phillip Garrity in the magazine, "the hotel earned a score of 100 on the brand’s 2012 quality assurance standards, previously unheard of at the Tarrytown location."
Clarke, a mother of five who immigrated in the late 1990s from Jamaica and worked her way up to housekeeping director, rewards the good performances of her staff with perks such as day at the spa. For those three employees who never missed a day of work in three years, she made sure they got $150 gift cards.
“I tell my team members that, without housekeeping, there’s no hotel,” Clarke said in the Westchester Magazine article. “You have the most important job.”
