In Village Full of Yoga, Riverstone is a Gem

Riverstone Yoga will soon celebrate its first anniversary on the Tarrytown riverfront.

We live in Yoga Town. Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow (mostly Tarrytown) together boast no less than six yoga studios, each with their own following and unique menu of options.

For more info all all of them, click on the Yoga tab of our Sports/Fitness category Patch directory.

Most of these studios gravitate to Main Street, Broadway and Beekman, but Patricia Fischer has taken her practice to the riverfront.

Riverstone Yoga, almost one year old, is enjoying particular media buzz of late for being the only studio in Westchester offering aerial yoga.

Various news crews are contacting Fischer to film Fran Sperling’s aerial classes in action, as written up here in Westchester Magazine.

That makes two places now in Tarrytown where you can hang around and exercise on long swaths of silk: Patch recently showcased our new Westchester Circus Arts school twirling around the rafters of the Community Opportunity Center.

In the basement of the Hudson Harbor clubhouse, there’s the soothing room where practitioners can be suspended in a way that affords deeper stretches and spine-aligning in supportive and safe positions.

There’s actually two studios here, and seemily unlimited options in each. One room is heated through the floor for warm to hot classes, that feel "gooood," Fischer says.

There’s a ton on the schedule taught by 17 teachers: from a new seminar for golfers in the off-season to one for runners; MESH yoga combining dance with tai-chi; yoga for teens, for kids, for seniors; class vinyasa. There's even a nutritionist on hand by appointment.

All the offerings are best explained by Fischer, as she does here in these video snippets.
