Peering Through the Window Coverings

So many coming-soon businesses seem to be nearing completion at the same time; here's a look behind the brown paper.

If you're like me you can't resist the urge to peek through a tear in the brown window paper of a shop under construction.

Here's an update on, and a glimpse into, all the new storefronts in progress.

aims to open in about two weeks, when we should assume the heat wave will still be inspiring endless frozen-treat-cravings. You can peruse their menu, their specials, even their tweets on their website: yogurtlecrepe.com

is now all white inside and construction is underway (including a cool arch), thanks to Enzo Simone's former life as an architect. First there was a mural that and now area artist Jo Jayson is about to begin work on the inner wall here. I will go see her in action this weekend and chronicle her progress. Meantime there's always Simone's Facebook page to keep me updated on cool photos of people on precarious cliffs and/or building a business (jury's out on what's harder...).

Osaka Hibachi and Sushi will come soon to the Tarrytown Centre (McD's/Walgreens) complex and from my peek inside at the nice sign and dark wood panelled lobby, it looks nicer than your run-of-the-mill sushi joint. It's been quite an undertaking and a red dumpster's been parked out there for ages. A long stretch of parking lot was dug up recently to bury the additional water lines required for the place, but was filled in and paved soon after.

Then there's , slated for August 4 opening day festivities when I plan to taste every kind of olive oil, balsamic and sea salt that these cousins offer up.

In moving news, plans to move on up to 28 Main Street, home of former Viviana Boutique and the Apartment 28 shop before that. For now, enjoy the moving sale with items up to 50% off.
