Readers' Choice: Your Favorite Smoothies and Milkshakes?

Sometimes the best things in life come with a straw; weigh in here on the best liquid treat in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

Our Readers' Choice this week takes stock of the best milkshakes and smoothies in the villages.

They come in all colors and flavors – from ice cream rich liquid desserts to healthy fruit smoothies. Whatever the form, everyone can agree they are delicious. Where's your favorite place to go in the villages for smoothies and/or milkshakes. (And note, we aren't totally Mom and Pop snobs here and also included McD's who have jumped on the fruit smoothie bandwagon.)

Are we missing any? Tell us in the comments and we'll add to the poll. And get specific and share your favorite flavors in the comments.

Poll is open until 9 a.m. Friday. In the event of a tie, the Editor will determine the winner based on which business has the highest combined number of positive comments and positive reviews on its directory listings (see attached rules for more details). We will announce the winner at noon Friday. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

A big part of the problem is that the teachers' expectations about what supplies are necessary haveRead More become so extreme. When my kids were in school in Tarrytown, we would get a list at the beginning of every school year of the supplies we needed to buy. The parents were asked to buy a separate looseleaf binder for every single class our kids were taking and, for some classes, they asked for a looseleaf AND a spiral notebook. When I was in school, each kid had ONE looseleaf and we separated classes with dividers. Having SIX or seven loose leafs adds to backpack weight and costs a lot of money. My kids supply bills were often close to $100 apiece. The teachers have bought into this idea that all of these supplies are necessary and they are not. I'm not surprised that Staples is offering "rewards programs." Their advertising and marketing efforts have convinced the teachers that you must have a package of 12 red correcting pens, per child.
